In the clamor of the journalism room, one cry rises above the rest: “WE SHOULD TRY CRUMBL!”
Let me explain. We (the eighth graders of Spark) were having a bit of trouble deciding what the final entertainment story should be in this cycle. As soon as Lila Morsy said the word Crumbl, we were sold. Shriya Ashok, Alakh Bhatt, English Buckley, Marina Wissa, and I were the test subjects, along with our photographer, Isabel Georgieva.
Wissa bought six flavors of cookie. One for herself, and five for the rest of us.
“My lactose intolerance prohibits me from trying this banquet of cookies, so I’m just going to have my own vanilla masterpiece.” Wissa said. “I am holding vanilla crumb cake cookie featuring golden Oreo. I’m not generally a big fan of Oreos, but I’ve never had golden Oreo, which is what this cookie is collaborating with. It tastes absolutely golden. This is the best cookie I’ve ever put in my mouth in my entire life.”
Cookie 1 was the Confetti Cookie. After taking a bite. I did not like that the confetti cookie did not taste like sprinkles and just tasted like sugary dough.
“It tastes like cookie dough, it just doesn’t taste like it’s supposed to be cooked all the way,” Ashok said. We rated it 5/10.
Cookie 2 was the Chocolate Cookies and Cream Cookie. “Shriya exclaimed in satisfactory pleasure as she took a bite of the Chocolate Cookies and Cream Cookie and discovered it was an absolutely delicious concoction.” Wissa said to the group.
“We are going to get a serious stomachache. I have to run a 5K after this!” Buckley said.
As a group, we rated this cookie a 7.5/10.
Cookie 3 was the Peanut Buttercup Cookie featuring Reece’s.
“M- M – M THIS IS A TEN OUT OF MMMMM, a 10/10,” Bhatt enthusiastically exclaimed.
“Alakh slammed her fist down barbarically to emphasize the deliciousness of the cookie,” Wissa said while enjoying her vanilla crumb cake.
“I really liked that one, but I also really like peanut butter.” Buckley said.
Cookie 4 technically wasn’t a cookie; it was carrot cake.
“I really like it,” Bhatt said.
“I’ve had better carrot cake, so I’m not the hugest fan,” Ashok said. “You guys need to have good carrot cake. I need to bake carrot cake for you.”
Our last cookie, Cookie 5, was a Raspberry Cheesecake Cookie.
“It’s so creamy, it’s so good. The crust is so good, M-M-M,” Bhatt said.
“While watching us eat, Wissa said “Alakh started harmonizing to express her delight with the raspberry cheesecake.”
“Her choir experience is showing,” added Georgieva.
After leaving the squirrels a feast of crumbs, and walking back to the journalism room. We discussed our experience with the cookies. I thought they were pretty great. I thought that all the cookies were a bit sweet, but what’s life without sweetness?
“I got to go with a 50% success rate. Crumbl cookies is honestly living up to my expectations. If you like raw cookie dough, just go for it, queen.” Ashok said.
“Crumbl’s pretty fire. On a scale of one to ten cookies I give it seven out of ten cookies. Would I get it again? Yes. How many would I eat? One,” Bhatt said.
“Now I have to go run three miles, which, you know, is fine, but I might be a little sick…” Buckley said.
“Me personally I like what’s consistent and vanilla is very consistent. And I thought it was great. 10/10,” Wissa said.
