Many remember the famous Batman Bench on campus before the new building construction began. Perhaps we were so caught up in the fallout of our COVID years that we never stopped to appreciate the little things on campus that had changed, like the bench. Since then, every so often you’d hear a Pine View student recount their anecdotes about the oversized bench. Recently, though, there has been a new addition to our campus. Found next to the Yellow Building, new Batman Bench now resides!
The spontaneous return of the bench sparked discussion around the school campus. Social Media Manager Nathan DeSouza asks people on campus what they think of the new bench.
DeSouza: What are your thoughts on the new Batman bench?
Class of 2024 President Nemmo Ciccone:
“I remember that there would be friend groups that would hang out at the Batman bench… Although it can’t seat as many people it’s nice. It overlooks the quad and gives you a nice view of the new building.”
Ninth-grader Hana Mullen:
“At first I didn’t recognize it until I got a closer look… it’s blue which is different from the previous one. It doesn’t look like the original Batman bench, but it still carries on both the legacy and symbolism of the original Batman bench.”
Science Teacher Dylan Bell:
“I think it’s a bench, and I like it. It allows students to sit in a nice and shaded region. It’s nice and updated just like how our campus is.”
With a piece of the original bench in the Pine View archives, it’s evident that Pine View has a respect for its iconic symbols. A great thanks goes out to the school for providing the new bench.
