In the upcoming issue of The Torch, we’ll be running a news story introducing our new athletics director, Wayne Robertson. To welcome him back, we thought it would be fun to share his first feature in The Torch, from 8 years ago when he first came to teach at Pine view.

Newly welcomed to the Pine View campus, Wayne Robertson is the new Algebra II Honors teacher after spending a year giving instruction at Venice Middle School. Prior to working at Pine View, Roberson taught for 18 years at Venice High as well as two years at Dave Christian School in Miami, where he taught algebra.
Robertson decided to apply for a position at Pine View for a change of pace. After teaching at Venice High, he decided that Pine View would be a great job opportunity since his daughter attends Pine View as well. Robertson said he is enjoying Pine View so far due to the
“good students, great culture and strong academics.”
Robertson received his bachelor’s degree from Liberty University in Physical Education and minored in math. He received his master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of South Florida, which would allow him to become a vice principal or principal some day. Although he could have taught physical education, Robertson decided to teach math because of the higher demand for the subject.
From an early age, Robertson was exposed to a career in education since his father taught algebra and geometry to students in high school. Even as a student, Robertson tutored others, making teaching a perfect match for him.
Robertson was originally born in Chicago, Ill. and came to Floridaย in 1994, the year he started teaching. However, he has lived in many interesting places other than the Unites States, such as Venezuela and Chile. Robert-son’s father served as an administrator at private schools in both countries, both of which served the children of missionaries in those countries. He lived in Venezuela for a year when he was nine years old. During his sophomore, junior and senior years, Robertson lived in Chile and graduated from high school there.
Living in these countries allowed Robertson to experience new cultures and activities, such as skiing.
Outside of Pine View, Robertson enjoys the outdoors and all it has to offer. He plays baseball with his son and runs with his daughter. He is currently the tennis coach at Venice High. Ninth-grade student Robert
Noble described Robertson as “very respectful and involved in the success of his students.”
Robertson said, “I’m glad to be a new part of Pine View, and I am looking forward to the amount of time I get to spend here.”
