Members of Pine View’s National Art Honors Society (NAHS) cut the ribbon, marking the completion of the mural they hand-painted outside Building 16. While the first paint stroke was made January 5, 2026, this project has been years in the making. On April 2, the club hosted a mural appreciation party, inviting students, faculty, and parents to witness the reveal and recognize those that brought the mural to fruition. PHOTO PROVIDED BY ATHENA ERBENAHS President, Ginger Kreithen, gives a speech at the mural appreciation party, recounting the process behind creating the mural and thanking the many people that contributed to it. PHOTO PROVIDED BY ATHENA ERBEThis Florida Scrub Jay, painted by NAHS Vice President, Hana Mullen, was featured in Kreithen’s speech. It’s one of many Florida native flora and fauna found in the mural, bringing awareness to the importance of native wildlife education. While they used outdoor paint, they stored the paint in ketchup bottles in order to have more control over how much paint they used. NAHS club sponsor, Sharon Salamon, is seen in the background. Each day they painted they had an adult to supervise them. Often it was Salamon, other times it was another Pine View faculty member or parent. In the beginning stages of creating the mural, club members start working on painting the details. They were found outside painting almost every week day from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., somedays until 3 p.m., and even some Saturdays.
